At Africans Market, protecting your privacy and the security of your personal data is a priority. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect your account.

1. What information do we collect?

ProfileYour name, email address and login credentials when you register.

Public contactThe phone number you choose to display on your listings so buyers can reach you.

LocationThe city you enter so we can show you listings near you.

2. How do we use your data?

Matching buyers and sellers: displaying your listings to the community.
Site security: detecting and blocking reported fraudulent accounts.
Service improvement: analyzing views on listings.

3. Sharing and visibility

Public visibility

Information you include in your listings (photos, price, description, phone number if you choose to show it) is visible to all site visitors.

Strict confidentiality

Your password and email address are never sold, rented or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Data security

Account passwords are encrypted. We will never ask for your password or your Mobile Money PIN by email, SMS or phone. Never share these if asked.

5. Data controller and retention period

Africans Market is the controller of your personal data. Your data is kept as long as your account is active; after your account is deleted, it is erased, except where a legal obligation (accounting, tax) requires us to keep it longer.

6. Your GDPR rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights over your personal data:

How to exercise these rights

From your dashboard, under "My data (RGPD)": an Export my data button downloads all your data (profile, listings, bids, payments), and a Delete my account button permanently erases your account and associated data. For any other request (objection, restriction), contact us via our contact page.

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

You can configure your browser to block non-essential cookies. Disabling essential cookies may limit access to some features, such as publishing listings.
